PANIC WITH A HIGHER BUDGET

We all had our panic buy episodes. The second wave of this pandemic is likely to happen and humans still want to travel but there is massive travel restriction and even if you could that swab will be stuff ed up your nostrils no less than twice and you will be quarantined twice.

So buy imported instant noodles !



here we have instant ramen holy grail from the land of Japan. It is so imported that you can't understand anything unless you read Japanese. It is called:

NISSIN RAOH YUZU SALT RAMEN ! (written in English)

WOW! Raoh suggest kingship, yuzu is. a citress fruit and salt is probably a certain sea salt flavour. So it says:

KING NOODLE WITH ORANGE PEEL FLAVOUR AND SELECTED SEA SALT.

What I noticed is this grade of instant noodles does not have MSG.


they came bundled of 5 packets and sold for a tidy price of SGD10.00. This means 1 packet cost SGD2.00. This is what you pay on ebay.

Should you panic buy or panic pay ?

Finally some thing in English shows what is the ingredients. Wow , it's got Bonito, yuzu peal, markerals and kelp !



I opened the packet and the contents were expected. the sachet was oil and not in powder.

I HELD IT IN MY HANDS AND VIBED WHAT TO DO......


sizzle up the pan with butter and drop in pork steak, cook it medium heat till is goes brown.

I take my time cooking this while the other pot was boiling water.


there is a bit if a bruised ginger in the boiling water.

I dropped a whole egg into it for 7 minutes (japanese standard for hard boiled egg which should give you a soggy yolk instead of a powdery one.


while the egg is being boiled, the meat is flipped 



7 minutes later i.fished the egg out of the water and popped it into a glass of chilled water with ice. while waiting,  I sliced up zuchinni, onion and leeks.

the water that made the egg was still boiling with a rage. The dried noodle is added in.

once the noodles goes soft you need to estimate the right time to remove it from the pot. For me I pulled a few strands out and ate them to see if I got the right bounce I wanted from the noodle texture.

So noodles are isolated in bowl. This instant ramen so I won't be adding oil and sesame oil under the clumb of noodle.

Meanwhile, the meat is already cooked.

the contents in the sachet is added to boiling water. Inside the sachet was a gel like fluid that had a fabulous suspension swirling inside. I used the same water to cook the noodle because some traces of starch is in the water which will make the broth subtly thicker.

the noodle itself was magical with grains of sesame  visible.

The broth is introduced to the noodles then everything else is added on top. The Broth came with a yuzu tinge but disappears soon after. Perhaps the other ingredients added on top diluted the effect of the yuzu flavour. The broth was wonderful. You could taste the mackerel, kelp and bonito.

So This is how You panic with a higher budget.

Meanwhile the weather changed
