Roar Fish
I was at the super market one day when I was looking for a fish steak.
Fish steak, a sizable one usually comes from a big fish and thereby more costly.
They were selling somewhere between SGD7 to 20 depending on the size. I however, came across one that was only SGD3.30. The specie of the fish was called RAW FISH !
So after cooking it is still RAW FISH.
it say that it is only good for 3 days !
According to this article , RAW FISH is likely to be either Big Asian Carp, Snakehead or Tilapia.
It cant be a Tilapia because it is not big enough to yield a steak this size. So this is a river fish and it will be muddy tasting. The article was also talking about rise in Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infections !!!!!
In this advert, Snakehead steak is about SGD7.85 + (SGD6.90 shipping) for 4 pieces. So, that is the market price.

I stole this picture from here
I was worried about the muddy taste but after googling , all you need to do is to do Asian things:
a. onions
b. ginger
c. salt
d. lime/ lemon
Meat was serrated so that I could stuff garlic, ginger and salt to deal with the muddy taste. The fish was probably from a farm hence, it may have been starved before slaughter to eliminate contamination by its waste product during cleaning.
I sizzled the pan with some oil in low heat and added the steak upon the Teflon. Here we have 2 big slices of lemon arranged in a 34D binoculite appeal.
Occasionally flipping on 4 sides, this steak to get it cooked thoroughly. Somehow, I didn't know what to do with the lemons.
Over time, in shear protest, the steak started falling apart and the lemon just wouldn't stay in the designated location. Like a message from the cooking extractor above , I knew we were done with the heat torture regime.
I added my sauce made of shallots , butter and mustard onto the fish
Adding some Spinach salad, the plate was still really incomplete. As I understand, the laws of eating well, you need multiple colours on the platter that you eat.
So I made a mess adding tomatoes, mushrooms. Olive oil was added over the salad element sprinkled with salt and cracked pepper.
I didn't die from poisoning or mud taste by eating RAW FISH.
SAYANG another day.
