HAINANESE BREAD ROLL FORAGE
It is a gloomy morning during Singapore's Circuit breaker lock down period. I was fortunate that a near by petrol station offered battery by Delifranc. I was however, disappointed with them , always too stiff and small.
usually, you are not quite sure what to do for the day other than dealing with the work piling up. I decided I need to walk 2 Km to a rare Hainanese bakery which we don't have much in Singapore these days.
The walk required me to walk pass an industrial estate.
Along the way, grass verge are becoming overgrown because of the lockdown. We never realize Singapore was one big landscaping projects all year round.
Daises like to grown at that base of tree trunks
Mimosas and other common parasitic weed flourish !
The day I started taking photos with an instamatic camera were these weeds which I always had a fascination for.
So there ! I happily walked back 2Km thinking that the expedition was a success.
It started to rain, but I brought my brolly ! (men dont carry brolly which they lose them later)
So here are my Hainanese bread rolls. How bad can it be?
Oh it must be different from Delifranc.
They seems a little bigger.
I slice our Malayan SCS butter and started indulging. The chewing was tough and I certainly didnt have that childhood experience.
Jaws were tired and stomach full. I realized I might have to skip lunch............
This all left me disjointed that my assumption was wrong all these while that the Hainanese loaf was better was just a make believe vying for a romanticized childhood.
I promptly receded back to my fascination for parasitic weeds.
We are fortunate surely, with services sweeping leaves, clearing garbage and a cool gloomy morning.
Coming down to the void deck I was greeted by the garbage collectors. It used to be an unpleasant experience but this time the workers were local and quiet. Somehow the garbage didn't smell so bad during lock down. I gave a hello wave and went on my way.
so off I went taking a walk that would total up 2 Km
