Meal for 5

I made a meal for 5 persons:

1. coconut pandan flavoured steamed rice
2. boiled broccoli
3. steamed spinach
4. boiled zucchini
5. saute mushroom in butter and shallots
6. pork Chinese style
so here it goes.

STEAMED RICE COCONUT PANDAN FLAVOUR

I was making 2 cup of rice. which means I need 2 cup of water. so I put 2 cups of water into a lot, some coconut cream, chopped garlic and onions, pandan leaves and brought it to boil. meanwhile 2 cups of rice were being washed and left inside the rice cooker

it will boil and forth up like a mad dog. That become a the stock to the rice. The use of pre made chicken stock was avoided as it carries MSG which leaves a smell after that. I don't do stock cubes.

Pour all that into the rice cooker and make sure the liquid level matches up to 2 part rice : 2 part liquid.
Fire up the rice cooker and make it do its job.

VEGETABLES

boil down brocollii in water will some salt and oil. I added some chopped  onion to give a slight sweetness

while boiling brocollii , I added a driver above the boiling water to steam spinach. Once the steaming is done , let the water drain off the vegetables. this way it wont contribute to the mess on the plate.

mushroom are put in a sizzling pot of butter and choppednonions. you would experience a butter scotch scent. the moisture of the mushroom and onions would become the sauce but you must have the lid on. the mushrooms will turn golden and remove them from the fry.

here we set aside all that has been cooked for assembly later

MEAT

pork is serrated on both sides then marinated in onion, garlic, ginger (for that Chinese feel) and salt.

The same gravy which the mushroom was cook is now the underlying stock for the pork.

some additional water was added after the initial sizzle. cover the pot with a lid and let the boil steam action is it job. turn the meat every now and then to get a more even cook.

after the meat is cooked I saute half boiled zuchinni.

throw them all together and you get a seemingly hard work in visual distress. But wait, what is that thing that looks like belachan?

It's wolfendatechan !

boiled together are wolfenberries, carrot and red dates. They are all sweet. Just boil till soft.

Mesh then all up and you get a sweet sauce. The wolfenberries suggest a Chinese medical taste and thereby you think it cured something (maybe visual distress) .Out there somewhere in the corner of my mind a French voice says "but you have to filter them with paper"

here my hopeful parents celebrating their son's self medicated home economics even before finding out what it taste like. like great people say; the journey is more important than the destination !

SO IT IS NASI LEMAK (but not halal) AFTER ALL AGAIN
