Leftovers & Chairman

With the ongoing slow economy, I one day realized i didnt have to cook for my kid because he escaped to Grandma's place.

Almost like I lost my job, I seeked refuge in leftovers that was my yesterday's lunch and dinner eaten as supper made by wifey.

There I had excess brown rice and boiled corn & peas.

Digging around (I have a normal sized fridge, you should dig yours too) I still had some mushroom and baby asparagus.

Brown rice and boiled corn and peas. I was toying with the already sliced mushroom hoping this could be a more encouraging picture on the basis of balancing colour for a photo. However, even Mao Tse Dong will not agree with his Hunan background.

I boiled the asparags for a while. I chopped shallots and heated the pot with butter till it melt and threw in the baby asparagus. As it got more yellow I threw in the chopped shallots (a bit like putting sugar in) and went on tossing it for a while.

Mushroom for me is meant to be eaten raw, but I learnt that you can get a more creamy version if you cooked it in butter. Once again like the asparagus, I melted the butter cooked the mushroom then threw in the shallots. When it gotten to a golden brown I stopped the cavorting.

So there ! Life suddenly came easy ! I sprinkled some sea salt so that you occasionally taste a tinge of saltiness every now an then while exploring the various combination of the elements in the bowl. The lemon helps to mute the saltiness and bring out the sweetness, I dunno why but it come to me this way !!

People personally whatsapp me saying my pictures were awful. So I had to spend time cropping and adding filters like it will taste better. Are you happy now? Do i have to adopt you to be a subject of my experiment?

Suddenly I realized I didn't cooked any meat, but it was too late, all of it was in the stomach, no belly ache and watching Planet Earth (David Attenborough, not Duran Duran).

SAYANG everyone. and UPCYCLE your food
