MAD ABOUT CATS
I don't keep animals or long to keep one because there is a maintenance and responsibility to upkeep and a heart break to expect.
I do however, do at time keep tropical fishes.
In the line of my research to my usual foray in human geography I learnt a sickness that cats can contract that can make them mad. Their droppings if handled by humans wrongly can affect humans as well.
Found in an article by National Geographic News talks about Czech evolutionary biologist named Jaroslav Flegr making a claim that a parasite that jumps between host from rats to cats to humans can alters brain behavior.
Toxoplasma gondii parasites alters the mind of rats to be more courageous thereby creating a higher chance for it to be caught and eaten by cats.
The cats in turns gets affected and begins to be influence as well.
Humans get infected primarily when they deal with the cats droppings in the litter box. In a wikipedia link, it claims a possibility that half of the human race being infected.
Flegr later found himself infected by the parasite when his college created a test kit to identify if a person was infected. He realized he had more courage when crossing roads.
I wont spoil the interesting read further as the article elaborates on other scientist's discovery on this parasite.
Just remember, if your cat is mad or if you know someone who has gone funny and keep cats, this could be the reason.
